I was to be in Hong Kong at the invitation of ex President Bill Clinton to partake in his Clinton Global Initiative and speak on a topic that would elevate the conditions of our universe.
I cancelled. I am NOT going to leave my country in this troubled hour to travel to a foreign land to lend cause to a foreign initiative, patronized and guided by a foreigner, for his benefit !! I need to see initiative here in my country.
I have also cancelled my participation in LIVE EARTH, the Al Gore initiative which I was to participate in on the 6th and 7th of December. I am NOT going to sing and dance at a time when my country and city bleeds, even though the funds collected were going to be for charity. They can keep their initiative to themselves !!
I have watched TV today and read the press and mingled with citizens. Never ever have I observed the extent of extreme anger in each and every individual of this country towards those that sit in the seat of authority and system and power. This is a determined and definite citizen. A citizen that has decided that everyone of them needs to become his own vigilante. For his sake and for the sake of his country.

During my childhood I have seen you in 1984 election where you have won by more than 1,50,000 votes and you resign in less than 2 years. I know you don't like politics but today demand is your type of leader.
Because of dirty politics even some of sensible young generation don't want to join. We need a strong leadership not only one but multiple. Our next generation will never forgive these politician if they are not going to change.

What can you do with these politicians. I think this represents a serious failure of democracy. India is a live example of how can democracy fail. If you have these same corrupt leaders running for election every time, what does one do. choose between them as to who should slaughter your country. Currently I am in UK and I thank God that people like Thackeray family are not well known figures internationally otherwise it whould have been very shameful for me to to tell them that I am from same country Raj Thackeray is. First of all, neither the MNS or the Marathi people in general are against India. We are a part of this country. We though feel bad about one thing though. We(Maharashtrians) have done so much for this country. What has this country done for us? There has not been a single marathi PM till date(even though we had some very intellectual people like Y. B. Chavan). This is because of the North Indian lobby in Delhi which is anti-Maharashtra. They are afraid of our capabilities and abilities. We have contributed so much to this country's history. This land has produced so many freedom fighters, saints, etc. Had it not been for Ch. Shivaji and his descendents, this country would have been a Muslim state today! Go back in history. Had not the North Indian rulers betrayed the Peshawas during the Battle of Panipat, the British would have never dared to rule us. We contribute more than 50% to India's GDP. They were the ones who tried to take care of the guests till the last minute without any arms or training or ammunition when the NSG took 11 hrs to arrive - whether it was standing guard inside the door of the bolted restaurant with just the chef's carving knives in their hands against the AK-47s or AK-56s of the terrorists or making sure that the guests were first ushered to safety or serving water and beverages to them till the end...telling them to stay low and quiet...whereas they could have turned tail and ran and taken care of themselves first. The lives of many of them could have been saved if the NSG and special forces had been summoned earlier and arrived earlier rather than only at 7 am the next morning. What of the Taj GM who is on duty till today even though he lost his wife and kids to the fire in the Taj due to the slow arrival of the fire brigade, who died waving frantically from the windows of their rooms, which was going up in flames....i think all the commandos and NSGs and special forces need to learn a lesson in gallantry and bravery from the staff at the Taj.

Actually, there is no difference between the Thackeray's and other politicians of this country, except for few that you can count on your finger tips. Power is what they are after and not for nothing. The attitude is "screw the people". They do not stand for elections to serve the country. Their agenda is completely different. Look at them, still bitching and blaming each other rather than standing together and making a difference for a change. A few heads will roll, as already happened but everything will become the same after a week since they play on the concept “public memory is short”. Everything that they do is just for 1 cause and that is to gain political mileage for the next elections.

I would suggest please choose system in our constitution, as per the 1969 act, in section " 49-O" that a person can go to the polling booth, confirm his identity, get his finger marked and convey the presiding election officer that he doesn't want to vote anyone!

first of all i share my grief and sorrow for the lives that were lost in this mayham.
When one life is lost a whole family is affected and the society too. Our country is wounded and needs wisdom and determination to overcome these issues.
Kudos to the Police force, arm forces and the citizens of India (not say Mumbai as it again creates divisions).
It is a pitty that we all sit and critise, yet take no action. We may hate BUSH, but atleast he had the courage to take action after 9/11. One must wait and see what our dear PM and the likes of Kerela CM and others who have enough to talk, but barely act.
And to all of us, the common man, wake up and use the system to achieve goals. The goverment is not what runs the country, it is just a system we use to run it. Thus the failure of the goverment is OUR FAILURE and we must answer to the ones who have died and lost more then lives in this carnage. Let us support not a caste, colour, region but rise for a better country where all are equal and there are no regions, states, castes or creed.
And lastly a request to Mr. Amitabh Bachan, Al Gore, Clinton all use your charms to gain attention to their cause and ofcourse sometime pay for your valuable time. With great stature and respect comes greater responsibility. You have been our ideal for years in reel and real life. What about a charity event for the benefit of the poor police, armforce and common man (ofcourse the IPS and IAS would relish the scotch at ur place). Let us see if Amitabh Bachan can get Al Gores of this world to show their solidarity for an Indian cause. Atleast an ex-MP and a world figure like thee can achieve this.

Yes I fully agree with your views. I wanna make something very clear it's still shocking to believe that a human can inflict pain on another. The way people were tortured mentally wondering if they will ever see their loved ones, and the agony that followed — to call them cruel will be an understatement. Just imagine the pyschology of the terrorists to what extent their minds are brainwashed and their efforts channelised towards a destructive cause — this is simply disgusting and unacceptable. It's like Indians too are waking up to the sounds of bombs and explosions just like Iraq! Not even a public place is safe today. Forget celebrities walking on the road for the fear of being mobbed, even the public can't for the fear of being bombed!
Even the survivors are in shock, not that they feel any lucky. I'm sure they still have nightmares. Just watching TV and reading newspapers is still giving me sleepless nights.
